Aug. 11 is 4-H Day at the State Fair

July 27, 2017

4-H alumni and friends are vital to the success of the Iowa 4-H program and are devoted volunteers, donors and advocates. Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is partnering with the Iowa 4-H Foundation and DuPont Pioneer to connect with 4-H alumni and friends from across the state. Our goal is to register 5,000 people as 4-H alumni and friends by the first day of the Iowa State Fair. You can register online at www.iowa4hfoundation.org/alumni. Please encourage other 4-H alumni and friends to do the same.

On Aug. 11 the Iowa 4-H Foundation will host Iowa 4-H Day of the Iowa State Fair. Those who pre-registered may visit the tent on the Grand Concourse to receive a 4-H membership card good for special benefits at the fair, including discounts at the Iowa Pork Producers food venue and Cattlemen’s Beef Quarters. People can register during 4-H Day as well. I’ll be helping with registration at the 4-H Foundation tent from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., so stop in and say hello.

The fun doesn’t end with State Fair. Registration continues through Sept. 30. The county that registers the most 4-H alumni and friends will receive $500 to support their local 4-H program. Second place will receive $250 and third, $100.

Let’s all wave the 4-H flag and do our part to bring together our 4-H alumni and friends.
