Several new federal policies have been enacted impacting county policies and procedures for employers and employees. Kay Oskvig from Whitfield & Eddy Law recently shared some implications of these new policies on employers. - Learn about workplace accommodations employees may request under the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act which goes into effect June 18, 2024.
- Understand Fair Labor Standards Act new implications for salaried employees and exempt or non-exempt status with salary threshold increases that take place July 1, 2024, and January 1, 2025.
- Hear information about independent contractors’ status and appropriateness of independent contractors as county-paid employees.
- Review the legal opinion from Whitfield & Eddy Law about employees serving as volunteers

Please note that updates for county personnel handbooks are being developed and will be shared with counties once they have been reviewed by Whitfield & Eddy Law. Also, some protocols involving these policies are still developing and will need to be implemented as we learn more.
