The Iowa Extension Council Association is excited to announce that we are bringing the 2024 Extension Council Conference on the Road this year. There will be six mini-conferences held throughout the state on a weekday evening from 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. on the following dates and locations:
- March 25, Adair County Fairgrounds 4-H/FFA Building, Greenfield
- March 26, Mahaska County Extension Office, Oskaloosa
- April 1, The Great Jones County Fair Expo Hall, Monticello
- April 2, Borlaug Learning Center, Northeast Research Farm, Nashua
- April 10, The Shores at Five Island, Emmetsburg
- April 11, Woodbury County Extension Office, Sioux City
The focus of this year's conference is on connecting to your communities. "We heard through our extension council survey last year that the vast majority of council members ran for the position to be able to give back to their communities and because they believe in the mission of ISU Extension and Outreach," said Jennifer Vit, IECA Executive Director. "The content will help council members put those two goals together."
The agenda for the evening will focus on how council members can engage in determining future directions for their county programs that provide value to the public and how they can enhance the marketing reach within their counties through word of mouth. Additionally, there will be a focus on developing partnerships within the county to expand the reach of programming and to help extend county resources. Vice President for Extension and Outreach Jason Henderson will share how councils can serve the needs of their communities through initiatives outlined in the Extension and Outreach Strategic Vision and Direction. The evening will culminate with a time for Vice President Henderson to field questions about Extension and Outreach.
